South Korea's Bio-health Industry Achieves $16.1 Billion in Exports in the First Half of 2026
The Korea Health Industry Development Institute recently announced that the domestic bio-health industry recorded $16.1 billion in exports during the first half of 2026. This is a significant indicator showing the steady growth of South Korea's bio and medical device sectors in the global market.
This export performance is analyzed as a result of balanced achievements across all bio-health sectors, including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and cosmetics. In particular, the export volume appears to have expanded as the quality of South Korean products, backed by technological innovation, has been highly evaluated in overseas markets.
Based on these results, the government and relevant industries plan to foster the bio-health industry as a core future growth engine. To this end, they intend to strengthen research and development (R&D) support and continue various policy initiatives to facilitate entry into the global market.
Experts predict that this growth trend will continue into the second half of the year. As the South Korean bio-health industry secures global competitiveness, it is expected to continue making significant contributions to national economic development.
