Health Insurance Coverage for Knee Injection 'Conjuran' to be Reduced Starting Next July
The Ministry of Health and Welfare has decided to reduce the health insurance coverage criteria for 'Conjuran,' an intra-articular knee injection, starting next July. This measure appears to have been established for the efficient management of health insurance finances.
Conjuran is a treatment primarily used to alleviate pain in patients with knee osteoarthritis. While many patients have been receiving treatment at a relatively low cost through health insurance benefits, the scope of coverage is expected to narrow compared to before.
On the 25th of last month, the government announced this change by issuing a notice on the 'Details of Application Standards and Methods for Medical Care Benefits.' Due to this change, it is expected that the out-of-pocket expenses for patients using the treatment will increase somewhat.
Related industries and hospitals are informing patients about these policy changes in advance. Patients planning treatment are advised to check the revised coverage criteria that will take effect after next July and plan their medical care accordingly.
This reduction in health insurance coverage is a policy decision by the government to enhance the sustainability of medical services. Patients are encouraged to consult with their attending physicians when visiting the hospital to verify information relevant to their specific treatment situation.
