Samsung Makes Massive 113 Trillion Won Investment in Asan, Chungnam
The Samsung Group has decided to make a massive investment totaling 113 trillion won in the Asan region of Chungcheongnam-do. This investment plan is interpreted as a strategic choice to revitalize the local economy while strengthening Samsung's core future technological competitiveness.
The core of this investment plan is the strengthening of technological capabilities for Samsung Display and Samsung Electronics. Samsung Display plans to invest 67 trillion won in the development of next-generation display technologies and the expansion of production facilities. This is seen as a measure to further widen the technological gap in the global display market.
In addition, Samsung Electronics will invest 46 trillion won in the back-end process sector for High Bandwidth Memory (HBM). As the demand for HBM has exploded due to the recent rapid growth of the artificial intelligence (AI) industry, this is analyzed as an intention to maximize production capacity and secure market leadership.
Through this large-scale investment, Asan City is expected to once again leap forward as a hub for high-tech industries. Related industries anticipate that this investment will have a positive impact on job creation within the region and the formation of an ecosystem for related industries.
