Changwon Jeongbeopsa Temple Holds Baekjung Closing Ceremony and Donates 4,000kg of Rice to Neighbors in Need
Jeongbeopsa Temple, a Masan branch of Tongdosa Temple located in Changwon, Gyeongnam, recently successfully concluded its 'Byeongo Year Baekjung Closing Ceremony.' Baekjung is one of Buddhism's significant holidays, dedicated to honoring the spirits of deceased ancestors and praying for the well-being of one's family.
This ceremony was held in the Manbuljeon Hall on the temple grounds, proceeding with an upper-altar Buddhist service followed by a commemorative event. With many devotees in attendance, the temple spent time commemorating ancestors and reflecting on the Buddha's teachings in a solemn atmosphere.
In particular, a 'Rice of Mercy' donation ceremony was held during the event to put the meaning of sharing into practice. Jeongbeopsa Temple shared its warmth by donating a total of 4,000kg of ceremonial rice to help neighbors in need within the local community.
During the ceremony, Venerable Gwangwoo of Jeongbeopsa Temple stated, "The true meaning of Baekjung lies in sharing and giving," adding, "I hope this small gesture of sincerity will be a great source of strength to our neighbors in need."
This event served as an opportunity to provide practical help to marginalized neighbors in the local community and to reaffirm the social role of religion. Jeongbeopsa Temple plans to continue various sharing activities with local residents in the future.
