Chairman Kim Jong Un Presides Over Expanded Political Bureau Meeting… Reviewing Economic Achievements
North Korea recently held an expanded meeting of the Political Bureau presided over by Chairman Kim Jong Un. This meeting was organized to discuss North Korea's major policies and the direction of state administration.
The core agenda of this meeting was the 'Five-Year Plan for National Development' decided at the 9th Party Congress held last February. North Korea reviewed the achievements of projects currently being pursued in the economic sector and discussed future development directions.
Specific measures to enhance economic performance were addressed during the meeting. In particular, it is reported that the North Korean authorities emphasized the necessary measures for each sector to successfully complete the economic plan.
Meanwhile, there was no specific mention during this meeting regarding the message sent to North Korea by former U.S. President Donald Trump in relation to the recent U.S. presidential election. North Korea appeared to be more focused on resolving internal economic issues than on external political situations.
Attention from neighboring countries is gathering on what additional policies North Korea will introduce for economic development in the future. As this could impact the situation on the Korean Peninsula, our government also plans to continue monitoring related developments.
