Starting Next Year, Students Can Conveniently Receive Health Checkups at Their Preferred Hospitals
Starting next year, the health checkup system for elementary, middle, and high school students will undergo significant changes. The Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health and Welfare announced that student health checkups, which were previously conducted separately by schools, will be integrated into the national health screening system. As a result, students and parents are expected to be able to manage health more conveniently than before.
Currently, student health checkups can only be received on designated dates at hospitals specified by the school. Because of this, parents and students have experienced inconvenience due to many restrictions in choosing the time and location. However, starting next year, students will be able to freely visit nearby hospitals at their preferred time to receive checkups, just like general adult health screenings.
Furthermore, the management of checkup results will become more systematic. Previously, it was difficult to maintain records because results were often notified via paper or managed only by schools. In the future, since results will be managed through the National Health Insurance Service system, students will be able to easily check and continuously manage their health records even after they become adults.
The government expects that this reorganization will allow for a more accurate assessment of students' health status and faster medical action when necessary. Additionally, the administrative burden on schools is expected to decrease, creating an environment where they can focus more on education. It is hoped that these changes will provide practical help for the healthy growth of young people.
