Busan City Pushes to Attract 'Korea Lift College'... Setting Out to Foster New Local Industries
Busan Metropolitan City has officially begun efforts to attract 'Korea Lift College' to build a new industrial ecosystem in the region. Recently, the city announced that it views the elevator industry as a key future growth engine and has initiated a feasibility study for the university's relocation or expansion.
Currently, Korea Lift College is located in Geochang-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do. Busan City is considering both relocating the university to Busan and establishing a new campus within the city. Through this, the city plans to train specialized personnel in the elevator sector and enhance technological competitiveness by collaborating with local companies.
The reason Busan is focusing on the elevator industry lies in the city's strengths in port logistics and urban infrastructure. Many elevator-related parts manufacturers are already clustered in Busan. Once the university is established, it is expected that research and development and the supply of talent will become more efficient, allowing Busan to grow into a hub for the Asian elevator industry.
This project goes beyond simply attracting a university; it aims to revitalize the local economy and create jobs. Busan City plans to gather opinions from relevant industries and experts to develop a concrete implementation plan.
Many citizens are paying close attention to what results Busan City will achieve through the attraction of Korea Lift College. A city official stated that they will work closely with the government based on the results of the feasibility study to ensure the project proceeds without setbacks.
