Saudi Minister of Communications and Information Technology Visits Korea to Discuss Digital Cooperation with Korean Companies
Abdullah Alswaha, Saudi Arabia's Minister of Communications and Information Technology, has visited South Korea leading a key delegation. This visit is interpreted as a strategic move to successfully promote 'Vision 2030,' Saudi Arabia's national digital transformation policy.
During his stay in Korea, Minister Alswaha held a series of meetings with officials from major domestic companies, including SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won and Samsung Electronics. It is reported that they focused their discussions on ways to cooperate in advanced information and communication technology (ICT) fields such as artificial intelligence (AI), 5G networks, and data centers.
Saudi Arabia is currently making large-scale investments to shift away from an oil-centered economic structure and improve its fundamentals toward a digital economy. In this process, the country expects that Korea's advanced technological capabilities and experience in infrastructure construction will be of great help in expanding Saudi Arabia's digital infrastructure.
Through these meetings, Korean companies are seeking opportunities to participate in Saudi Arabia's large-scale digital projects. Both countries plan to maintain a close partnership in the field of digital technology and continue to create tangible results.
