South Korea-Chile Summit Held… Strengthening Economic Cooperation and Expanding Cultural Exchange
President Yoon Suk Yeol held a summit with the President of Chile to discuss ways to cooperate between the two countries. This meeting was arranged to further develop the relationship between South Korea and Chile, and the two leaders exchanged views on various fields, including economy and culture.
The most notable point is the cooperation in the economic sector. The leaders of the two countries agreed to reconvene the Korea-Chile Free Trade Agreement (FTA) Free Trade Commission for the first time in 10 years. Through this, they decided to review trade and investment issues and revitalize the economic relationship between the two nations.
In addition, cooperation in the infrastructure sector was also materialized. In particular, they discussed ways for South Korean companies to actively participate and cooperate in the construction of the 'Chacao Bridge,' a major project in Chile. This is expected to be an opportunity for South Korea's excellent technological prowess to contribute to Chile's national project.
Discussions on cultural exchange also followed. The President of Chile mentioned that the Chilean people have developed a greater interest in Korean culture through South Korean pop culture, especially BTS. The two countries agreed to continue to expand exchanges in the fields of culture and art in the future.
This summit served as an opportunity for South Korea and Chile to reaffirm their economic partnership and strengthen their cultural ties. Based on these agreements, the government plans to continue follow-up measures so that the relationship between the two countries can take a leap forward.
