As Middle East Tensions Rise, South Korea Pushes AI University Development… Entertainment World Hears News of Rain’s Comeback
The biggest news is the rising tension in the Middle East. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ministry of Defense said it had fully activated its air defense system in response to missile and drone attacks launched from Iran. The attack was reported to be the first since the ceasefire with the United States on April 8. The UAE is monitoring the situation and responding accordingly.
In this report, Iran also stated that it had not planned an attack targeting the UAE. However, with the UAE having actually activated its air defense network, concerns over regional security are growing again. This incident appears likely to affect the situation in the Middle East and the response of the international community.
In South Korea, the government has begun a full-scale overhaul of university education to foster artificial intelligence (AI) talent. The government selected seven universities, including Korea University and Yonsei University, as “AI-focused universities.” Through this project, it plans to transform the university education system around AI and cultivate the talent needed in industry in a more systematic way.
Up to 24 billion won will be invested in each of the selected universities. With this support, the government aims to strengthen AI-related education and research capabilities and respond to the rapidly growing demand in the AI industry. The universities will boost their competitiveness in the AI field through curriculum reform and the expansion of research infrastructure.
