Korea's Sports Welfare Model 'National Fitness 100' Expands Globally
The Korea Sports Promotion Foundation (KSPO) invited 40 graduate students majoring in sports management from Europe to introduce Korea's 'National Fitness 100' model. This event was organized to promote Korea's advanced sports welfare system to the world. The delegation visited a fitness certification center in Seoul to personally experience Korea's systematic physical fitness management system.
'National Fitness 100' is Korea's representative free welfare service that scientifically measures the public's physical fitness and provides customized exercise prescriptions. This program helps citizens manage their own health by providing appropriate exercise methods for each age group. The European students showed particular interest in the data management methods utilizing Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
Along with this, the Korean government is also strengthening welfare policies for the socially vulnerable. Recently, a legislative amendment is being promoted to revitalize braille labeling on food products. This amendment includes provisions for the government to support research and promotion of braille labeling so that visually impaired individuals can check food information more easily and safely.
These changes demonstrate that Korean society is making efforts in various fields for the health and safety of all citizens. Along with the globalization of the sports system, the preparation of meticulous policies such as braille labeling on food is expected to raise Korea's level of social welfare to the next stage.
An official from the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation stated, "We hope that Korea's excellent sports model will become widely known abroad and become a global standard." The government also plans to continue pursuing institutional improvements to enhance the quality of life for its citizens in various fields in the future.
