'Korea Street' Officially Designated in Santiago, Chile
Recently, a 'Korea Street' was officially designated in downtown Santiago, the capital of Chile. This street is located in the Patronato district of Santiago and spans a section approximately 600 meters long.
This area has long served as a hub for the Korean community, as it is home to the Korean Association building and various Korean businesses. This renaming is considered an important example of the growing influence of Korean culture within the local society.
Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, recently visited the area to meet with local merchants, where he confirmed the popularity of Korean food and offered encouragement to the expatriate community. Visitors spent time tasting Korean food and engaging in cultural exchanges with the locals.
The designation of 'Korea Street' is expected to serve as an opportunity to further strengthen the friendly relations between South Korea and Chile. It is anticipated that this place will become a new landmark for tourists visiting Santiago to learn about Korean culture.
