Gyeongsangbuk-do Pushes to Become a 'Logistics and Distribution Hub' by Attracting 46 Public Institutions
Gyeongsangbuk-do has embarked on a large-scale initiative to attract public institutions in line with the government's second phase of relocating public agencies to provincial areas. Gyeongbuk province has set a goal to relocate a total of 46 public institutions to the region to revitalize the local economy and achieve balanced development.
The core of this relocation plan is to transform Gyeongsangbuk-do into South Korea's new center for logistics and distribution. To this end, the province has selected key organizations in relevant fields as priority targets, including the Korea Agency for Infrastructure Technology Advancement (KAIA), the Road Traffic Research Institute, and the Postal Logistics Support Corps.
Once these institutions relocate to Gyeongsangbuk-do, the local industrial ecosystem in these sectors is expected to grow significantly. In particular, the influx of specialized personnel in the logistics and distribution fields is anticipated to create jobs and bring about positive changes to the local economy.
To successfully lead the attraction of these public institutions, Gyeongsangbuk-do plans to cooperate closely with the government and prepare various support measures to ensure that the relocating agencies can settle down well in the region. Attention is focused on whether this project will serve as a crucial opportunity to secure future growth engines for Gyeongsangbuk-do.
