Coupang Eats Strengthens Safety Support for Delivery Partners in Preparation for Heatwaves
As the summer heat begins in earnest, managing the health of delivery workers who work outdoors is becoming increasingly important. Accordingly, Coupang Eats Service (CES) announced that it is expanding support measures to prevent heat-related illnesses among delivery partners and help ensure safe operations.
These support measures were prepared based on the Ministry of Employment and Labor's 'Five Basic Rules for Heatwave Safety.' Coupang Eats plans to provide delivery partners with cold bottled water along with essential items for summer outdoor activities, such as cooling arm sleeves and sunscreen. This measure is intended to help partners working under the hot sun regulate their body temperature and protect their skin.
Furthermore, when heatwave advisories or warnings are issued, safety guidelines will be provided to delivery partners in real-time. This is done by sending notification messages through the delivery app to encourage taking sufficient rest and drinking water frequently. Coupang Eats is also focusing on creating an environment where partners can briefly escape the heat during their delivery duties.
A Coupang Eats official stated, "The health and safety of our delivery partners are more important than anything else," and added that they will continue to listen to voices from the field and prepare various safety measures that can provide practical help. These efforts are expected to contribute to improving the working environment for delivery workers during the summer and reducing safety accidents.
