KT strengthens disaster communication response technology to prevent large-scale wildfires
With the recent increase in the risk of large-scale wildfires due to climate change, ensuring the stability of communication networks has emerged as a critical task. In response, KT, a major domestic telecommunications company, is strengthening its response capabilities to provide stable communication services during disaster situations such as wildfires.
KT is developing technologies that allow for rapid restoration even if communication facilities are damaged during a wildfire. In particular, the company is actively adopting measures to utilize mobile base stations and satellite communication technology to ensure that communication remains uninterrupted even in hard-to-reach areas like mountainous regions.
Furthermore, KT is advancing a system that uses artificial intelligence (AI) technology to detect signs of wildfires in advance. This system monitors areas with a high probability of wildfire occurrence in real time and plays a role in immediately sharing information with fire authorities in the event of an incident.
This technology enhancement is part of an effort to protect the safety of the public and minimize disaster damage. KT stated that it plans to continue building a more robust and secure communication network in preparation for various disaster situations in the future.
