Coupang Eats Strengthens Safety Support for Delivery Partners in Preparation for Summer Heatwaves
Recently, temperatures have risen significantly nationwide, signaling the start of the peak summer heat. In response, Coupang Eats Service (CES) has decided to significantly expand support for heat-related illness prevention and safe driving to protect the health of delivery partners working outdoors.
Coupang Eats developed these support measures based on the "5 Basic Rules for Heatwave Safety" recommended by the Ministry of Employment and Labor. The company is particularly focused on helping delivery partners who are active during the hottest daytime hours take sufficient rest and operate safely.
Specific support includes providing delivery partners with items to help them withstand the heatwave, such as cold bottled water, cooling arm sleeves, and sunsticks. These items are selected to provide direct assistance to delivery partners on-site.
Furthermore, Coupang Eats is utilizing its delivery app system to provide real-time safety information. Whenever a heatwave advisory or warning is issued, notification messages are sent to partners to emphasize the importance of hydration and rest, working to prevent accidents.
A Coupang Eats official stated, "The safety of our delivery partners is the most important value of our service," and added, "We will continue to listen to feedback from the field and do our best to create a safe delivery environment." It is expected that these measures will serve as a positive example of protecting the safety of delivery workers during the summer season.
