President's Approval Rating Drops to 38%… What About Changes in Party Support?
According to recent results released by the polling agency Gallup Korea, the president's job performance approval rating has hit 38%, marking a new low. This downward trend is analyzed as a result of a combination of public concerns regarding recent ministerial appointments and real estate policies.
In the survey on political party support, the Democratic Party of Korea maintained its lead with 38%. On the other hand, the People Power Party recorded 29%, a 1 percentage point drop from last week, showing a slight stagnation.
Looking at the support ratings for other parties, the Reform Party stood at 3%, while the Rebuilding Korea Party and the Progressive Party each recorded 2%. Notably, the proportion of independent voters who said they do not support any party was tallied at 26%, drawing attention to where their votes might head depending on the future actions of the political sphere.
This survey result is expected to serve as an important indicator of what efforts the government and the ruling party must make to regain public trust in the process of pushing forward their policies. Attention is focused on how future state affairs and changes in the political landscape will affect these approval ratings.
