Korea Social Security Information Service Opens 4 Regional Centers Nationwide as 'Heat Wave Shelters'
Amid the recent nationwide heat wave, the Korea Social Security Information Service (KSSIS) announced that it will operate heat wave shelters for citizens. This measure was prepared to prevent heat-related illnesses caused by the extreme heat and to help citizens stay safe during the summer.
The heat wave shelters being opened are located at KSSIS regional centers in four cities across the country: Seoul, Busan, Gwangju, and Daejeon. The facilities will be open during weekday operating hours, allowing anyone to visit freely to escape the heat and take a rest.
Citizens visiting the facilities can cool off in the air-conditioned indoor spaces and check simple health information if needed. The KSSIS stated that it plans to continue various support activities for the safety and welfare of the local community in the future.
During periods of persistent heat waves, it is important to refrain from outdoor activities during the day and to stay well-hydrated. We hope that the opening of these heat wave shelters will provide practical help for citizens to have a healthy summer.
