South Chungcheong Province Commemorates Victims of 13-Year-Old Military Experience Tragedy and Pledges to Strengthen Safety
South Chungcheong Governor Park Soo-hyun mentioned the military experience training tragedy that occurred 13 years ago and emphasized that he would make the safety of the province's residents the top priority of his administration. These remarks reflect a commitment to not forgetting the tragedy of the past and ensuring that such an accident never happens again.
The military experience training tragedy that occurred in 2011 was a heartbreaking incident in which many students lost their lives. Remembering the pain of that time, Governor Park took time to reflect on the scene of the accident once again and honor the souls of the victims.
Taking this as an opportunity, South Chungcheong Province plans to significantly strengthen safety inspections for all experiential learning and educational programs conducted within the province. In particular, the province has decided to strictly apply safety standards in cooperation with relevant agencies to create an environment where students can participate with peace of mind.
Governor Park stated, "Taking the past accident as a lesson, I will concentrate all our capabilities on making South Chungcheong a safe place where residents can live with peace of mind." Attention is now focused on whether the safety policies to be promoted by South Chungcheong Province will bring about tangible changes.
