Incheon International Airport Ranks First Globally in International Passenger Traffic for the First Half of This Year
Incheon International Airport Corporation announced that the number of international passengers using Incheon Airport in the first half of this year ranked first among all airports worldwide. This result is analyzed to be a consequence of the rapid recovery in travel demand following the COVID-19 pandemic.
In this survey, Incheon Airport surpassed major global airports, including London Heathrow Airport and Singapore Changi Airport, to handle the highest number of international passengers. Incheon Airport has once again reaffirmed its position as the central hub airport of Northeast Asia.
An airport official explained that the diversification of flight routes and an increase in transfer passengers were the primary reasons for this achievement. Additionally, the steady rise in foreign tourists visiting Korea has also had a significant impact on the growth in passenger numbers.
Incheon Airport plans to continue improving service quality and upgrading facilities so that more travelers can use the airport conveniently in the future. The airport intends to continue its various efforts to maintain its title as the world's number one airport.
