'Korea Street' Officially Designated in Santiago, Chile… Visited by Representative Lee Jae-myung
Recently, the official designation of a 'Korea Street' in downtown Santiago, the capital of Chile, has become a hot topic. This street is located in the Patronato district of Santiago and covers a 600-meter stretch where the Korean community center and various Korean shops are concentrated.
This change in street name is a result of the efforts of the local Korean community and reflects the high level of interest in Korean culture within Chile. The Patronato area is already frequently visited by many locals and tourists, and this designation has brought even more attention to it as a hub of Korean culture.
Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, recently visited the street in person to encourage local Korean residents. While touring the area, Representative Lee took the time to check how well Korean culture is settling into Chilean society, such as by asking about the local reaction to Korean food.
This designation of 'Korea Street' is expected to serve as an opportunity to further invigorate cultural exchange between South Korea and Chile. Many are looking forward to seeing what role this place will play as an important cultural space for promoting Korea in the future.
