Saudi Minister Visits Korea to Discuss Digital Cooperation with Korean Companies
Abdullah Alswaha, Saudi Arabia's Minister of Communications and Information Technology, has visited South Korea leading a key delegation. This visit was conducted to advance Saudi Arabia's digital transformation policy and to explore avenues for cooperation with major Korean companies.
During his stay in Korea, Minister Alswaha held a series of meetings with executives from major domestic firms, including SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won and representatives from Samsung Electronics. It is reported that the discussions focused on potential collaboration in high-tech fields such as artificial intelligence (AI), 5G networks, and data centers.
Saudi Arabia is currently accelerating its transition from an oil-dependent economic structure to a digital economy through its national development strategy, 'Vision 2030.' In this process, Korean companies, which possess world-class information and communications technology (ICT) capabilities, are being highlighted as key partners.
Through these meetings, both South Korea and Saudi Arabia are expected to further strengthen their practical cooperative relationship for building digital infrastructure and developing future technologies. The industry is now watching to see whether the technological exchanges between the two countries will lead to concrete business outcomes.
