'Korea Street' Officially Designated in Santiago, Chile
Recently, 'Korea Street' was officially designated in the heart of Santiago, the capital of Chile. This street is located in the Patronato district of downtown Santiago and spans approximately 600 meters, where the Korean Association building and various Korean businesses are concentrated.
This area has long served as a hub for many Korean expatriates to reside and promote Korean culture. This renaming is considered a symbolic event that demonstrates the growing influence of Korea within the local society.
Recently, major Korean figures, including Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, visited this place to encourage local merchants. The delegation toured the street's facilities and spent time communicating with locals by asking them directly about the taste and popularity of Korean food.
With the designation of 'Korea Street,' cultural exchange between Korea and Chile is expected to become even more active in the future. Furthermore, it is anticipated that more locals and tourists who love Korean culture will visit this area.
