Ministry of Foreign Affairs: 'Priority Purchase of Domestic Vehicles' for Overseas Diplomatic Mission Official Vehicles
Recently, some media outlets reported on the purchase and operation of foreign vehicles by overseas diplomatic missions. In response, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated its official position regarding the operation of official vehicles at these missions.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained that it has established a basic principle of prioritizing the purchase of domestic vehicles when acquiring official vehicles for use at overseas missions. This measure is intended to promote our companies' products abroad and to use the national budget efficiently.
However, the Ministry added that there are unavoidable cases depending on local circumstances. In situations where the road conditions in the host country are very poor, or where it is realistically difficult to obtain repairs and parts for domestic vehicles locally, the use of foreign vehicles is inevitable as an exception.
A Ministry of Foreign Affairs official stated that they will continue to strive to adhere to the principle of purchasing domestic vehicles as much as possible in the process of managing vehicles at overseas missions. Furthermore, they emphasized that they will enhance the transparency of official vehicle management to ensure that taxpayers' money is not wasted.
