Kim Yo-jong claims DMZ landmine explosion was a 'staged event'... Inter-Korean tensions rise
Tensions between the two Koreas are rising following a recent landmine explosion in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) on the western front. While our military identified landmines planted by the North Korean army as the cause of the accident, North Korea has strongly denied these claims.
Kim Yo-jong, Vice Department Director of the Workers' Party of Korea, claimed that the landmine explosion was a 'staged farce' by the South Korean side. North Korea stated that the incident had nothing to do with them and accused the South Korean government of distorting the situation.
Furthermore, Kim issued a threatening message, stating that they would retaliate immediately if the South Korean military conducts live-fire drills near the DMZ. This has raised concerns that inter-Korean relations could freeze once again.
Currently, our military is strengthening its readiness posture in preparation for potential provocations by North Korea. The government has made it clear that North Korea's claims are false and stated that it will thoroughly prepare for any situation that may arise in the future.
With dialogue between the two Koreas severed, military tensions on the Korean Peninsula are expected to persist for the time being due to this incident. Citizens are closely watching the government's response and future changes in inter-Korean relations.
