Daiichi Sankyo Korea's Anticancer Drug 'Vanflyta' Passes Cancer Disease Deliberation Committee
Daiichi Sankyo Korea's acute myeloid leukemia treatment, 'Vanflyta (ingredient: quizartinib),' has recently passed the Cancer Disease Deliberation Committee of the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service. This means the drug has cleared the first hurdle toward receiving health insurance coverage.
Vanflyta is used to treat patients with relapsed or refractory acute myeloid leukemia who have a specific genetic mutation (FLT3-ITD). This decision is expected to provide new treatment opportunities for patients who previously had limited therapeutic options.
Drugs that pass the Cancer Disease Deliberation Committee must subsequently go through the Pharmaceutical Benefit Evaluation Committee and price negotiations with the National Health Insurance Service. Once these processes are completed, the drug will finally be covered by health insurance, which is expected to significantly reduce the financial burden on patients.
This news is considered a significant step forward for leukemia patients and their families in Korea. Health authorities and the pharmaceutical company plan to expedite the follow-up procedures so that patients can receive treatment benefits more quickly.
