Sports Meets AI: Korea National Sport University Announces Results of 'Sports AI' Talent Development Program
Recently, a reporting session was held at the Korea National Sport University (KNSU) to share the outcomes of the 'Sports AI' practical project. The event was organized to cultivate professional talent capable of solving real-world problems by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) technology into the sports field.
During this project, students directly defined various issues occurring in actual sports settings and researched AI technologies to address them. Moving beyond theoretical learning, students underwent the process of implementing technical solutions themselves using real-world data.
The 'Smart Coaching' system received particular attention. This technology allows AI to precisely analyze athletes' movements to suggest improved forms or enhance training efficiency. Such technology is expected to not only improve athletic performance but also significantly assist in injury prevention.
Professor Park Jae-hyun of KNSU remarked at the session, "I am delighted to share the results of students defining field-required problems and implementing solutions through AI technology." He emphasized that this practical experience will play a crucial role in nurturing experts who will lead the future sports industry.
Currently, the 'Sports Tech' market, which combines sports with information and communication technology (ICT), is growing rapidly worldwide. KNSU's project holds great significance as it enhances the competitiveness of the Korean sports industry and presents a new educational model where technology and sports harmonize.
AI technology is expected to continue driving changes across various sectors, including sports training methods and spectator culture. There is high anticipation for the impact the talent produced through this project will have on the future of sports.
