Where Sports Meets AI: Korea National Sport University Nurtures 'Sports AI' Talent
Recently, a presentation session was held at the Korea National Sport University (KNSU) to announce the results of the 'Sports AI' practical project. This event was organized to share the outcomes of research and development conducted by students on how to apply artificial intelligence (AI) technology to the sports field.
In this project, students identified various problems occurring in the sports field and directly implemented AI technologies to solve them. In particular, 'smart coaching' systems that analyze data to correct athletes' postures or improve training efficiency were introduced as key achievements.
Professor Park Jae-hyun of KNSU, who supervised the project, spoke highly of the fact that students directly defined field-required problems and created solutions. Professor Park emphasized that such practical experience will serve as a crucial foundation for students to grow into experts who will lead the future sports industry.
With the recent advancement of AI technology, the importance of digital technology in the sports field is growing. This presentation session clearly demonstrated how sports education in Korea is evolving beyond simple physical exercise by integrating with cutting-edge technology.
It is expected that more sports AI experts will be produced through such educational programs in the future. This is anticipated to enhance the competitiveness of the Korean sports industry and greatly help athletes train in a more scientific environment.
