Ignacio Villaverde, Rector of the University of Oviedo, Awarded Honorary Doctorate in France
Ignacio Villaverde, the Rector of the University of Oviedo, received a very special international recognition this week. The University of Rouen Normandy, located in France, has named him Doctor Honoris Causa. This title is one of the highest honors an academic institution can bestow upon an individual for their professional career and scientific merits.
The official ceremony took place this Wednesday in the city of Rouen. Villaverde, who is a Professor of Constitutional Law, traveled to France accompanied by part of his management team to attend the ceremony. During the event, French authorities highlighted his long career in the world of law and his commitment to university management.
For the Asturian rector, this appointment is not just a personal award, but a collective success. As Villaverde explained, this recognition highlights the strong alliance that exists between the universities of Oviedo and Rouen. Both institutions frequently collaborate on research projects and exchange programs for students and professors.
This event reinforces the international ties of the University of Oviedo within the European Union. By receiving this title, Villaverde consolidates the position of the Spanish university abroad and facilitates future academic collaborations. It is an important step toward continuing to build educational bridges between Spain and France.
