The Popular Party requests a judicial investigation into PSOE financing

The Popular Party (PP) has filed a complaint with the National Court against the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE). The party led by Alberto Núñez Feijóo is requesting an investigation into the alleged irregular financing of the governing party, focusing its accusations on what they have termed the "Ferraz sewer" network.

In its filing, the PP maintains that there is sufficient evidence to investigate the PSOE for the alleged commission of five different crimes. Among the accusations presented, the Popular Party points to possible irregularities related to party financing, influence peddling, and other economic crimes linked to the management of public funds and contracts.

The complaint comes in a context of high political tension in Spain, where corruption cases and judicial investigations into political parties often occupy a central place in public debate. The PP has insisted that it is necessary to clarify whether party resources have been used legally and transparently, demanding that the justice system act quickly to clarify the facts.

For its part, the PSOE has categorically denied all accusations, describing them as political maneuvers without any real foundation. The Socialists have assured that they will cooperate with any judicial request, but have criticized the PP for using the courts as a tool to wear down the government instead of debating public policy.

The National Court must now analyze the document presented by the Popular Party to decide whether to admit the complaint for processing. If the court accepts the case, an investigation phase will begin to collect evidence and testimony to determine whether there is criminal liability in the PSOE's financial management.
