Spain and Poland agree on joint purchase of military aircraft for 5.4 billion
The Spanish Council of Ministers has given the green light to a major defense agreement in collaboration with Poland. The project consists of the joint acquisition of in-flight refueling aircraft, known as MRTT (Multi Role Tanker Transport), with the aim of strengthening the military capabilities of both European countries.
The total investment for this program amounts to 5.4 billion euros. According to what was approved by the Government, this contract will be developed over a period of seven years. The agreement not only includes the purchase of the aircraft, but also guarantees the necessary logistical support for their maintenance and operation throughout that time.
This joint purchase is a sign of Spain's commitment to European security and cooperation within the European Union. By making the acquisition together with Poland, both countries seek to optimize economic resources and improve efficiency in the management of their air forces in the face of current defense challenges.
With this decision, the Spanish Executive seeks to modernize its air fleet with advanced technology. It is expected that this contract will provide the Spanish Armed Forces with greater autonomy and strategic capacity in future international missions and transport and refueling operations.
