Marlaska files an official complaint against the judge investigating Begoña Gómez

Spain's Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, has filed a formal complaint with the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ). This action comes after Judge Juan Carlos Peinado questioned the work of the police escort for Begoña Gómez, the wife of the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez.

Marlaska sent his complaint directly to Isabel Perelló, the president of the CGPJ. In the document, the minister expresses his displeasure over the doubts Judge Peinado raised regarding the actions of the police officers. According to the minister, the judge's words are unfair and affect the image and professionalism of the State security forces.

Judge Peinado is the magistrate in charge of investigating the court case involving Begoña Gómez. Recently, the judge criticized how the security operation was organized during Gómez's visits to the Madrid courts. Peinado suggested that the behavior of the escort could have hindered the judicial process.

For its part, the Ministry of the Interior maintains that the security of public figures is a technical and professional task, not a political one. Marlaska insists that officers always act according to criteria of efficiency and protection, and calls for respect for the work of the professionals who guarantee order in public buildings.

This situation has generated new tension between the Government of Spain and a part of the judiciary. The conflict reflects the current complicated relationship between the justice system and the Executive, especially in cases involving figures close to the president.

Now, the General Council of the Judiciary must analyze the minister's complaint and decide whether to take any action in this regard. Meanwhile, the judicial investigation into Begoña Gómez continues under intense scrutiny from the media and public opinion.
