Málaga to become a European benchmark for semiconductors with a multi-million euro investment
The Spanish Society for Technological Transformation (SETT) and the Andalusia Technology Park have signed a strategic alliance to promote the creation of the new Semiconductor Center in Málaga. This project seeks to position Spain as a key player in the European technology industry and strengthen the microchip supply chain.
The development of this center has funding of 500 million euros, sourced from the PERTE Chip. The main objective of this government program is to foster the research, design, and manufacturing of semiconductors within national territory, thereby reducing technological dependence on other international markets.
The choice of Málaga for this project is no coincidence, as the city has established itself in recent years as one of the most important technology hubs in Southern Europe. The infrastructure of the Andalusia Technology Park will provide the necessary environment for companies and research centers to collaborate closely on the development of new technologies.
The future center is expected to generate highly qualified jobs and attract specialized talent from both Spain and abroad. Furthermore, this initiative will allow Spain to gain sovereignty in a strategic sector that is fundamental to the operation of electronic devices, vehicles, and telecommunications systems.
With this investment, the Government reaffirms its commitment to the country's digitalization and reindustrialization. The Málaga Semiconductor Center will undoubtedly be a fundamental pillar for Spain's economic growth and technological advancement over the next decade.
