920 dead in Venezuela and aid from Spain
The death toll from the earthquakes in Venezuela continues to rise as the first financial aid from Spain arrives for those affected. Additionally, restrictions have been activated in Paris affecting travelers due to the extreme heatwave in France.
Venezuelan authorities have raised the death toll to 920 and the number of injured to more than 3,300 following Thursday's two earthquakes. The situation is critical in the affected areas, where rescue efforts continue among the rubble. As an immediate response from Spain, CONFER (the association of religious congregations) has donated 30,000 euros through Cáritas Española—the Church's humanitarian organization—to support basic and emergency assistance on the ground.
Regarding the situation in the rest of Europe, if you plan to travel to Paris, please note that police have banned the sale of alcohol in shops and its consumption in the street starting at 6:00 p.m. This exceptional measure has been taken to prevent incidents during the current heatwave affecting the French capital.
