Arrested in Valencia after attempting to smuggle over a kilo of heroin inside his body
The National Police have arrested a man in Valencia after discovering that he was attempting to smuggle a significant quantity of drugs into the country. The suspect was intercepted during a routine check when he displayed suspicious behavior, which led officers to conduct a thorough medical examination.
Following tests performed at a city hospital, doctors confirmed that the individual was carrying numerous foreign objects inside his body. In total, 91 capsules containing a narcotic substance were extracted, which was later identified as heroin.
The total weight of the seized drugs amounts to 1,240 grams. This method of transport, known as "body packing," poses an extreme risk to the person's health, as the rupture of a single capsule in the digestive system can immediately cause a fatal overdose.
The detainee has been brought before the courts and faces charges of a crime against public health for drug trafficking. Meanwhile, authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the origin of the substance and to dismantle potential distribution networks linked to this case.
This incident once again highlights the efforts of Spanish security forces at entry points into the country to combat drug trafficking. Surveillance at airports and stations remains fundamental to preventing the entry of illegal substances into national territory.
