APIE presents its annual economic journalism awards
The Association of Economic Information Journalists (APIE) has recently announced the winners of its traditional annual awards, the Tintero and the Secante. These awards aim to recognize the relationship between communication professionals and information sources in the economic sphere in Spain.
The 2026 Tintero award, which highlights the person who has best facilitated the work of journalists during the year, has been granted to Gloria Ortiz, an executive at Bankinter. With this recognition, information professionals value her transparency and willingness to collaborate with the media on current financial topics.
Conversely, the Secante award has gone to Manuel de la Rocha. This award is traditionally granted to those public figures who have shown a more closed or difficult attitude when it comes to providing information to journalists. The choice reflects the press's assessment of the accessibility of public and private officials.
In addition to these two main awards, the association has granted several honorable mentions to other professionals in the sector. These recognitions seek to highlight the importance of fluid and honest communication between companies, institutions, and the media in a complex economic context.
The awards ceremony is one of the most anticipated events for the journalistic sector in Spain. APIE thus continues its work of fostering transparency and improving the conditions in which journalists carry out their daily work when informing society about the country's economy.
