Pepe Álvarez demands urgent government measures on time tracking and the minimum wage
The secretary general of the UGT union, Pepe Álvarez, has recently urged the Government of Spain to make immediate decisions on two fundamental issues for workers: time tracking and the update of the Minimum Interprofessional Wage (SMI).
According to the union leader's statements, it is necessary for the Executive to approve the regulation on the recording of the working day during the month of September. Álvarez considers this measure essential to ensure that employees' schedules are respected and to avoid abuses regarding overtime.
In addition to the issue of working time, the UGT representative has focused on the need to review the minimum wage. The union maintains that this update is vital to improve citizens' purchasing power in the face of the current economic situation.
Pepe Álvarez has issued a clear warning to the Government, noting that the future of social dialogue in the country depends on the ability to reach agreements on these issues. For the union, the lack of progress in these areas could complicate future negotiations between social partners and the Executive.
For the moment, the Government has not confirmed an exact date for the implementation of these proposals, although the debate remains open. The progress of these conversations will be key to determining the working conditions of millions of workers in Spain in the coming months.
