Spain mobilizes the army following an unprecedented migration crisis in Ceuta
The Government of Spain has made the decision to mobilize the army in the autonomous city of Ceuta following a massive arrival of migrants from Morocco. According to authorities, more than 49,000 people have crossed the border in recent days, a figure that has overwhelmed emergency services and the region's reception capacities.
The situation at the border is described as critical and out of control. Security forces and the army are working together to manage the flow of people and ensure security in the area. Unfortunately, authorities have confirmed that, so far, at least 18 deaths have been recorded during the crossing attempts, which adds a very serious humanitarian dimension to this border conflict.
This event has generated great concern both nationally and internationally. Spanish authorities are in constant contact with European institutions to coordinate a response to this migration crisis. The main objective is to restore normalcy at the border and ensure that the human rights of all people involved in this mass displacement are respected.
For now, the Executive's priority is to contain irregular entry and provide basic assistance to those who have managed to cross. Meanwhile, the military deployment will continue in the area over the coming days to reinforce surveillance and prevent the situation from deteriorating further, while awaiting new diplomatic measures with the neighboring country.
