More than 800 Spaniards celebrate the national team's success in the heart of New York
The Spanish national football team continues to ignite passion around the world. Following its recent qualification for the next stage of the tournament, the joy has been felt not only on the streets of cities like Madrid or Barcelona but also across the Atlantic Ocean. In New York, hundreds of fans gathered to support the national team in an atmosphere filled with excitement and patriotism.
The meeting point was Mercado Little Spain, located in the modern Hudson Yards neighborhood of Manhattan. More than 800 Spaniards living in the American city gathered at this gastronomic space to watch the match live. Attendees wore red jerseys and carried flags, transforming a corner of the Big Apple into a small part of Spain for a few hours.
Fans described the experience as something incredible and moving. "It's amazing," some of those present told the media, highlighting the importance of sharing these moments with fellow compatriots when living far from home. The national team's victory allowed the Spanish community abroad to feel more united than ever, celebrating every play with great enthusiasm.
These types of events demonstrate the significant global impact of Spanish sports. Mercado Little Spain, a project spearheaded by the famous chef José Andrés, has become the go-to place for our country's culture and gastronomy in the United States. During the World Cup, this market has served as the official headquarters for Spanish fans in New York.
The national team's success is not just a sporting triumph but also an opportunity to project Spain's image abroad. While the players prepare for their next big challenge, fans in international cities are already planning new celebrations. Undoubtedly, the support of the fans, both within and outside our borders, will be fundamental in the attempt to secure a new international title.
