Luis Planas travels to Asia and Oceania to strengthen climate cooperation
The Spanish Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas, has begun an official trip to Palau and the Philippines. The main objective of this mission is to strengthen international collaboration on critical issues such as the fight against climate change and food security.
During his stay at the Pacific Islands Forum, the minister will address the direct effects that global warming has on marine resources. For Spain, a country with a strong fishing tradition, the sustainability of the oceans is a strategic priority to guarantee the future of the sector.
In addition to environmental sustainability, Planas will seek to establish new technical cooperation agreements with local authorities. These agreements aim to improve efficiency in food production and ensure that supply chains are more resilient to potential global crises.
The visit will also serve to strengthen diplomatic ties in a region that is key to global biodiversity. The Government of Spain thus reaffirms its commitment to the international sustainability agenda, seeking joint solutions to protect ecosystems that are fundamental to global food supplies.
This trip concludes with Spain's intention to lead initiatives that protect both the environment and the economies of countries that depend directly on fishing and agriculture.
