Former Mayor of Santiago turns to the courts over the Sierra Bella case
The former mayor of Santiago, Irací Hassler, has decided to turn to the courts of justice to challenge a resolution issued by the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic. This legal measure seeks to annul the decision of the oversight body, which attributed administrative responsibility to her in the controversial purchase process of the Sierra Bella clinic.
The case dates back to the failed acquisition of the property, an operation that was questioned due to discrepancies in the building's appraisal value. At the time, the Comptroller's Office determined that there were irregularities in the procedure, which led to administrative sanctions against the former municipal authority and other officials involved in the management.
For her part, Hassler's defense maintains that the process complied with current regulations and that the Comptroller's resolution is not in accordance with the law. With this legal action, the former mayor seeks to clear her name and reverse the administrative consequences that were imposed on her following the cancellation of the purchase.
This judicial process will be key to determining whether the municipal administration acted correctly or if, as the oversight body indicated, there were failures in the management of public resources. It is expected that the courts will analyze the evidence presented by both parties in the coming weeks to issue a final ruling on this case, which has generated widespread debate in public opinion.
