The Popular Party asks the PSOE for support for the rallies in defense of Ceuta
The Popular Party (PP) has publicly requested that the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) change its position and join the rallies called for this coming September 2nd. The main objective of these demonstrations is to defend the territorial integrity of Spain and show firm support for the autonomous city of Ceuta.
Borja Sémper, spokesperson for the PP, was in charge of making this request. According to his statements, the party considers it essential that the country's main political forces maintain a common stance in the face of challenges affecting national sovereignty and the security of Spanish territories in North Africa.
The September 2nd call aims to bring together citizens and political representatives to highlight the strategic importance of Ceuta. The PP maintains that, in times of tension or uncertainty regarding borders, it is necessary for the Government and the opposition to act in a coordinated manner to send a message of unity against any external threat.
For the moment, the PSOE has not confirmed whether it will join this initiative. The lack of consensus between the two majority parties reflects the current differences in the management of the country's foreign and territorial policy, a topic that continues to be a subject of debate on the Spanish political agenda.
The situation in Ceuta continues to be a constant point of attention for the Executive and political parties. It is expected that in the coming days it will be known if there will finally be a positive response from the Socialists to the Popular Party's invitation.
