New Andalusian senators take office in the Senate
The Spanish Senate has experienced a day of renewal this week with the swearing-in of the new senators appointed by the Parliament of Andalusia. This formal act is a fundamental step in completing the composition of the Upper House and ensuring the representation of the autonomous communities in national politics.
During the ceremony, the senators were required to fulfill the procedure of swearing allegiance to the Spanish Constitution. This moment was notable for the different formulas used by the political representatives to express their commitment to the Magna Carta, reflecting the ideological plurality present in the institution.
On one hand, Senator Montero opted for the formula of "promising" to uphold the Constitution. This is the traditional and most common form used by parliamentarians when assuming their public responsibilities in the exercise of their legislative functions.
On the other hand, the representatives of the Vox party added a phrase to their oath, declaring that they did so "for Spain." This practice, which has been seen on other occasions within the legislative chambers, seeks to emphasize this group's political vision regarding national unity and the role of the Constitution.
The arrival of these new Andalusian senators marks the beginning of a new stage of work in the Senate. From now on, the representatives must focus on parliamentary activity, where they will debate the laws and proposals that directly affect the lives of citizens throughout the Spanish territory.
