Telefónica boosts IoT technology in Spain with record growth

According to the most recent data, the company has managed to reach nearly 26 million Internet of Things (IoT) lines, representing a spectacular increase of 197.9% compared to the previous period.
This massive growth is a response to the implementation of new technological solutions in fundamental sectors for urban management and public services. Among the areas where Telefónica has deployed this technology are smart water management, building automation, and the modernization of public lighting in various locations across the country.
IoT technology allows everyday devices to connect to the internet to send and receive data. In the case of water management, for example, these systems help detect leaks immediately, while in public lighting, they allow for the optimization of energy consumption, achieving more efficient and sustainable cities.
With this figure of 25.8 million lines, Telefónica reinforces its position as one of the leaders in Spain's digital transformation.
