Emakunde points to security company for lack of equality in promotions
The Basque Women's Institute, known as Emakunde, has issued an official resolution affecting the company I-Sec Spain Aviation Security. Following a detailed investigation, the agency concluded that the company has been unable to demonstrate that its processes for selecting middle management are entirely egalitarian.
The conflict centers on the designation of positions of responsibility within the company. According to the ruling, the organization has not provided the necessary evidence to prove the absence of discrimination based on sex. This means that the company has failed to convince the authorities that men and women had the same opportunities to access these management positions.
This resolution marks the end of an administrative procedure initiated some time ago to review the company's internal policies. Emakunde, whose main objective is to promote real equality between men and women in the Basque Country, has focused on the transparency of selection and professional promotion processes in the private security sector.
For the time being, the company must review its internal methods to comply with current gender equality regulations. This case underscores the importance of Spanish companies maintaining clear and objective selection processes, avoiding any type of bias that could harm the professional careers of their female employees.
Emakunde's ruling is a significant step in monitoring labor equality in Spain. Authorities continue to work to ensure that all companies, regardless of their sector, guarantee a fair work environment where talent is the only criterion for reaching leadership positions.
