A forest fire in the Sierra Oeste of Madrid forces the lockdown of two municipalities
The Community of Madrid has activated Operational Situation 2 of the INFOMA plan due to a new forest fire that has broken out in the municipality of Aldea del Fresno. The fire, which has spread rapidly through the Sierra Oeste area, has caused great concern among authorities and residents of the region.
As a precautionary measure in the face of the intensity of the flames and the dense column of smoke, emergency services have ordered the mandatory lockdown of the inhabitants of Aldea del Fresno and the neighboring town of Villamantilla. Authorities are asking citizens to remain in their homes and strictly follow the instructions of the security teams.
Level 2 alert of the INFOMA plan is activated when a fire requires the intervention of extraordinary resources for its extinction and there is a real risk to people or non-forest property. Currently, various fire crews, forest brigades, and aerial assets are working intensely in the area to try to control the advance of the fire.
Weather conditions, characterized by high temperatures and wind, are hindering the work of the extinguishing teams. At the moment, no personal injuries have been reported, but the security deployment remains active throughout the affected perimeter to prevent the fire from reaching residential areas.
The Community of Madrid continues to monitor the evolution of the event and requests that the population avoid approaching areas near the fire to facilitate the work of the emergency services. It is expected that a new update on the status of the fire and the possible lifting of the lockdown measures will be provided in the coming hours.
