Alicante doctors call for an indefinite strike starting October 28
Medical professionals in the province of Alicante have announced an indefinite strike that will begin on October 28. This protest measure arises as a direct response to the proposal for the new Framework Statute Law, a legal text that regulates the working conditions of healthcare personnel throughout Spain.
The medical community has expressed its deep dissatisfaction with the changes proposed in this regulation. According to sector representatives, the new law does not guarantee the necessary improvements in their working conditions, nor does it effectively address the saturation problems currently suffered by the healthcare system in the region.
The strike call has generated concern among citizens and local authorities, as a prolonged interruption of medical services could affect primary care and scheduled appointments at hospitals in the province. For the moment, medical unions are maintaining their firm stance due to the lack of agreements with the administration.
Given this situation, it is expected that mandatory minimum services will be established in the coming days to ensure care for the most urgent patients.
