Electricity demand in Spain increases by 2.4% during the month of August
Electricity consumption in Spain has experienced notable growth during the past month of August. According to official data, national demand recorded an increase of 2.4% compared to the same period of the previous year.
In absolute terms, total consumption reached 23,137 gigawatt hours (GWh). This increase reflects an upward trend in the country's energy activity, placing it 3.7% above the figures recorded in August 2023 when adjusted for the effects of working patterns and temperatures.
This increase in electricity demand is usually related to various factors, most notably the intensive use of air conditioning systems due to high summer temperatures and the behavior of the country's industrial and commercial sectors.
Energy experts will continue to analyze this data in the coming months to determine if this growth marks a stable trend for the rest of the year. For now, the Spanish electricity system maintains its capacity to meet these energy needs without any notable incidents.
