New drone center opens in Malmö
In Malmö, an old tobacco factory has been given a new life as a testing and training center for drones. Three part-time soldiers took the initiative to start the center. The focus here will be on drones manufactured in Sweden, which is seen as an important part of the country's future defense.
The three people behind the project were impatient and did not want to wait for slow decisions from authorities. They therefore chose to start the center on their own to speed up the development of Swedish technology. By creating a place where the technology can be tested in practice, they hope to be able to help both the military and private companies.
Drones are playing an increasingly large role in modern conflicts and for societal security. In the old factory in Malmö, there is now space to fly and practice in a controlled environment. This makes it possible to detect problems and improve the technology before the drones are used in real-world situations.
The initiative shows how important rapid development in technology and defense has become. The center is expected to become an important meeting place for experts and developers in southern Sweden. It also contributes to strengthening Sweden's position regarding new and advanced technology for national security.
