Unusual sight in Västergötland: Two tornadoes observed during Saturday's storm
During Saturday's severe storm, an unusual event occurred outside Grästorp in Västergötland. Martina Karlsson, who was in her home, saw something very rare when she looked out through her bedroom window.
There were two tall tornadoes moving across the landscape. A tornado is formed when warm, moist air meets cooler air masses in connection with severe thunderstorms. The phenomenon is known for being able to cause damage to buildings and vegetation, but it is not every day that two are seen at the same time in the same place.
Martina Karlsson described the event as an incredible experience. Although tornadoes can be frightening, many people stopped to watch the spectacular weather phenomenon over the weekend.
SMHI has warned of unsettled weather in large parts of the country over the weekend. Although tornadoes are rare in Sweden, they do occur occasionally during the summer months when the atmosphere is unstable. So far, there are no reports of major material damage in the area following Saturday's event.
